Gatwick Express

This maybe a daft question but if I am trying to get to Gatwick airport does the Gatwick Express count in terms of the price of the ticket I bought from say the trainline.com or do I have to pay when I get on the train. £18 from Nottingham to Gatwick stopping seems crazy cheap.

Yeah I thought that at first but when I looked at the stopping itinerary it says take the tube from STP too Liverpool Victoria and get the Gatwick Express. Do you think this is an extra charge then? Also there are fares for £30 which say that.

If you could check it yourself to see what you think?

I'd rather not get there and find out I had to pay more, I don't mind in advance.

Date is the 7th of November, leaving at 9:28 arriving at Gatwick at 12:45 two adults both with YP railcards.

... the fare I get is £16.50 ... and yes, routing showing as you said ... if you are still a bit 'warey' then book at your local station who can also do you a printed intinerary ... and you wont pay the thetrainline's booking fee's etc

If you book via the East Midlands Trains website you will get a further £1 discount. The ticket will be valid on the Gatwick Express as a connecting service, but if you are uncomfortable you can print the booking confirmation. I would advise against using the Trainline due to the administration charges, which don't apply on most other websites.

If you buy a ticket to Gatwick then that covers the entire journey, including LU.

The price you quote will be an Advance, it will cost more on the train or from the ticket office as only walk-on fares will be available on the day.

There's no such thing as "Conn trains". It says "+AP EMT& CONNECT" which is short for "CONNECTIONS". A connecting train could be operated by SET, SN (including Gatwick Express) or FCC.

Okay I'll do that, thanks a lot for your help.

If it's convenient to go to the station do that but otherwise book on EMT's site as posted above and print a copy of the itinerary from the website if you like.

You should comfortably make the 1200 from VIC, and you may make the 1145 if you're quick! This would get you to Gatwick 15 or 30 mins earlier than booked. This is because the booking system has to allow a very long time to cross London - much longer than it really takes.

It's still valid on SET services where they are on a permitted route, in this case Charing Cross-London Bridge. There's no reason why that would not be valid, although unless there were engineering works on the Northern (City branch) and engineering works between Victoria and East Croydon it wouldn't be a route I'd recommend.

I'm not sure why the sarcasm - your little 'error' completely changed the meaning.
Kafka87, yorkie, myself and possibly anyone else reading it thought that you meant it was only valid on FCC.

Thank you all for your help, I always get my tickets through the EMT site normally not sure why I said trainline to be honest, it's all booked and paid for now anyway so thank you all again.

Now I just have to work out how to get accross Turin!!

Not sure which terminal your flying from but the transit that normally takes you from the South Terminal (Rail Station) to the North terminal is currently being replaced. You currently have to go from the Rail Station to the South terminal Bus station for a replacement bus service. As this is not being run by the rail industry its very well organised with lots of staff and loads of standby buses in case of a rush but you do have to allow an extra 20 mins.

A couple of occations, on the way back from wales, i had a ticket that was for VT&connections and i could use it on the gatwick express.

Yeah I know, we are getting there 3 hours before to allow for delays and the bus.
