Gatwick Express used to run a rail replacement coach service between Gatwick Airport and Victoria on Christmas Day followed by a reduced train service on Boxing Day. This meant they could say they ran a service 365 days a year. I believe Heathrow Express did the same. There was also a bus that ran on Christmas Day between Gatwick and Heathrow for airport transfers. Yet this year it appears none of this was running. Does anyone know when this stopped and whether there are any plans to reinstate these services? Was this another casualty of covid?

Heathrow Express technically still could claim to have run 365 days a year, albeit only between terminals. They also covered for Elizabeth Line down to T4.

I think that finished long before COVID. I don’t think it has run since about 2012.

Thanks for pointing this out. I hadn't realised this. Presumably this is possible because the airport owns the rail infrastructure at the airport itself?

National Express ran a direct service between London and Gatwick on Christmas Day, instead of going via Heathrow like they normally do. So the airport hopefully told passengers about the National Express service.

Yes I saw that. Presumably at some point GTR thought there was no point trying to compete with it!
