I noticed today that there have been a lot of ground works going on around Gatwick, around the places that a platform 7 would be placed, including the removal of the old transformer building, and the cutting back of a lot of shrubs and trees. Also, the pedestrian bridge from the car park is wrapped in scaffolding. Does anyone know if this means that the works to install the new platform and rebuild the station are about to get underway?

It has been brought forward I think. The original plans stated that construction would begin after the Olympics, however I think that changed to completion by end of this year, or something along those lines.
