Hi

Do the now Southern owned 442s run on Gatwick Express every 15 minute services aswell as the half hourly Brighton express services? I am taking a trip down Gatwick way and would like to hop on a 442 down there.

Cheers
Rob

On GatEx - They run quite a few services but a few 460's operate a few services, cant say which ones though.

And then theres the Brighton Express services as you said.

Most 442s run to Gatwick Airport now so there's atleast one in Victoria running to Gatwick. The 442s on the Brighton Express call at Clapham Junction East Croydon only. For anyone thats interested on here, these are the Brighton Express departure times from Victoria by 442s. Info from UK Modern Emu Gen.

Cheers for the replies guys.

Does anybody know how many 460s are left in service? I could roughly calculate the odds of finding one on a Gatex service.

It was reported in the 'uk modern EMU' Yahoo group this morning that they only planned to use 2 x 460s on GatEx today. However I think there are still quite a few available, I've only heard of two being stored so far.

Well there is somewhat of a stock shortage for us at the moment, a few 460s are still doing Gatex, with most 442s on the Express services to Brighton (etc)

2 are stored and off-lease, a further 2 are off-lease and waiting to be stored. Only 4 remain on-lease. It could be a case of SN arranging a day by day lease extension on the 2 inbetween units for use when required. All will be gone by the end of Feb.

There are 2 daily 460 diagrams, both of which expire on the 26th Feb.

Well I'm going on the 25th, but I'm sure it'll be fine and I'll get one at Vic in the morning - 10.15/10.30 if you want to know anyone.

Thanks again for the info - will be following the situation closely.

It was reported in two issues back of Rail that southern are keeping 2 460s until the may timetable change over not sure if this is true or not.

Thanks for the further advice, thats very helpful. I will be following what happens with the 460s, it'll be interesting to see where the driver cars end up.
