In connection with the football at Falmer this evening, 387 225 and 216 are working (as a pair) on Seaford branch duties today, including the 15.25 Seaford-Brighton.

Has a 387 ever reached Seaford before? It’s a first for me to see one on the branch.

I believe it is. Under normal circumstances there is a gap in driver knowledge where the Seaford is worked by a link that doesnt sign 387's but Control are planning these

Just goes to show what an upgrade the 387s are to the rest of the network when they’re used as like 377s instead of for propping up the London to Gatwick stretch.

Thank you. If various speculative cascades go ahead, then I guess we may see more ‘red trains’ in the future, but for now it’s a rarity.

Let's hope they don't trip the fuses.
The Seaford branch used to have poor electrics.
Half power only between Newhaven and Seaford to prevent that. I've been on a pair of 377s that has learned this the hard way...

GatEx 387s are back on the branch, ready for Chelsea’s (surely futile?) visit to the AmEx stadium this evening, so the red trains are emerging as part of the football service plan. They looked very colourful in the winter sunlight, crossing Tide Mills.
