Gateline operative interview tips

hi first of i would like to introduce my self, my name is talha, now that's out the way I'll get right into it.

I applied for a gateline operative job around 4-6 weeks ago and I have an interview coming up on Wednesday 19th, and if am honest I am very very nervous because I really want this job as it is a role that I have studied in and also want to get into the industry
so i have some questions which are
what would be expected of me in the interview, I know it will be example based questions and stuff but is there anything else that I have to look out for?
and does anyone have any tips and hints on how to succeed on the interview?
i know this may sound like a dumb question but i have looked every where to find out exactly what gateline operative does and have found not much information, does anyone know exactly what they do other than customer service, a bit of cleaning, knowing the times and the information about the train?

anda final question what is the rules regarding a beard?

Interview:
Positive attitude, polite & professional at all times to deal with all situations including fare evaders and conflict management.

Job:
Manning gate and general maintenance of the station which may include some housekeeping duties.

Beard:
Kept clean and tidy you don't need to shave it off.

honestly i dont use this forum as much but do use it for some course work am doing
anyways the real deal i had my interview for the gate line and was not successful
but how it will work is you sign up for whatever job you are looking for on the website for example gateline, once applied they will respond to you within 2 or 3 weeks, telling you either successful or unsuccessful. if successful, you will be sent a maths test to do first. Depending on the job role it will be on the level of that meaning it will be at a different difficulty level, when i did mine it was pretty tough but all it asks for is percentages, graphs and times, the practise test is harder than the real ones dont panic... if maths is a successful you will then be sent an English test which i easy its a true or false question thin...but you will need to watch out for the timer. once tests have been done it will be sent to thee managers or the HR to review and if successful for the interview, you will bee given a date and a time just dress smart and clean hair, as for the beard make sure its neat and tidy. they will ask you seven questions about your experience like have you dealt with an angry customer? have you ever went above and beyond for a customer? in those line. but you will also have t research the company and the role you applied for in case the ask you

that's all i know haha, but just be confidant and very chatty in a good way i know i wasn't which probably made me not get the potion, and hopefully you should be good to go

84RyderDave84. I would recommend that you head to your local station with a gateline and spend an hour observing how they manage the gateline.

There are always plenty of gateline positions, so if you do your research and prepare for the interview, there is no reason why you can't get the role and begin your career on the railways.

Im an electrician looking to change carreer and applied for a conductor role at leeds in august. My application was accepted and and past both maths and english test and after a 5weeks i was unsuccessful in my role due to the amount of applicants had applied which is totally understandable. So i looked into gateline thinking this is a stepping stone to learn the ropes and do in house learning on train routes etc and learn more about progressing my career on the rails.

Talha - Thanks for sharing your experience and gives me an idea of what to expect if i do achieve an interview if not this time I will next time. I hope you keep applying and are successful nxt time
