Just a brief message to advise that the website has been updated with work party updates and a few photos. Currently relaying pointwork outside the shed, refurbishing the DMU and working on the Shark.

The Garw Valley Railway are to hold an open day at Pontycymer Shed on Good Friday 2nd April 2010 and Easter Saturday 3rd April 2010 between 1300 and 1600 hrs. The miniature railway will be in operation, the shed wil be open for viewing restoration progress and rolling stock and a small model railway display will be on show. Light refreshments will be available. A small admission fee applies.

If you are, give me a shout! I'll be around the shed somewhere. We are hoping to bring the model railway we had at Barry back into service and also an exhibition layout for the event.

Just to remind folk that the GVR are holding two open days over Easter on 2nd and 3rd April at Pontycymer Shed. between 1300 and 1600hrs. Shed admission is free with rides on the 10.25" gauge miniature (with Toad brakevan!) being 50p.

We are a small, friendly railway centre to the north of Bridgend in the staggeringly beautiful Garw Valley. Hoping to open the initial section of the line soon, once the first phase of track is renewed. Warm welcome guaranteed! More details on the website.

Hunslet Austerity saddle tank No 3840 'Pamela' has now arrived at Pontycymmer. hopefully this can appear in service when the track is up and running
