Posting for a friend: 1 adult, 1 child with FAM railcard. Garforth to Edinburgh north tomorrow afternoon, back south Thursday afternoon.

Can anyone see any better than the SVR at £86.35 (for 1 adult 1 child with FAM railcard) please? Happy with naughty tickets, happy to change onto TPE, etc etc.

Pay for a single Garforth - York then the prices as follows for 1 adult and 1 child for the dates requested with a Family and Friends Railcard from York - Ediburgh

The return Journey Edinburgh - Garforth

there is availability 30mins past the hour from lunchtime Advance Single Edinburgh - Garforth @ £39:35

Garforth - Preston £25.70 off peak return, Preston - Edinburgh £17.85 advance single, Edinburgh - Preston £24.20 advance single.

Leave Garforth 17:12 arrive Preston 1935 with a change at Manchester Piccadilly. Leave Preston 19:53 arrive Edinburgh 22:22 direct, return from Edinburgh at 16:52 arrive Preston 19:15, leave Preston 19:45 arrive Garforth 22:07 with changes at Manchester Piccadilly and Leeds.

Total £67.75.

Can be had for £2.95 less leaving Edinburgh at 16:12 but with an extra 30 minutes at Preston.

Thank you guys. Appeciate the responses.

I suspect the through SVR is the ticket for me on this occasion sadly:

-travelling with the little one, I'd rather do the direct 3 hour route than double that by going via Carlisle (unless the saving was like 50% or better)

-as a personal view, £86 for a flexible ticket would trump £70 for advances (with all the risk they entail)
