From what my wife heard from her friend, it was both the Macclesfield and the Wilmslow lines affected by the Cheadle Hulme tree incident this morning, so it must have been before the junction in that case.

No problems at all travelling from Sittingbourne to York. In fact it was quite sunny on the way up. I'm sitting in my hotel room right now and it's just a bit breezy, that's all

My understanding from reading NRE Disruption is that the problems were on the Stoke branch as VT were diverting through Wilmslow, Northern stoppers to Stoke were bustituted and the Crewe stoppers were routed via Heald Green and missed out all station to Wilmslow

I think XC ran as per, but of course they just need a clear track and don't use the overhead piwer

Running 13 late and just left Preston. Also doesnt the 14:00 stop at lancaster? Thought all the bham to scotland trains did.

Glasgow to Largs is back to normal, but there is an OHL problem affecting services between Glasgow and Greenock. (EDIT: Now reported as an obstruction on the line near Bishopton)

There is also a report of an obstruction on the line at Falkirk Grahamston.#

EDIT: And another between Barrhead and Kilmarnock. I'm getting the next train home, I think.....

Going to York up the ECML is fine , as already said, if you went further north to Newcastle and on into Scotland were delays are taking place.

Just got off the XC HST heading for Glasgow and the TM was advising passengers the service was terminating at Darlington. Passengers for stations north with XC only tickets were advised to contact anyone the knew living south of Darlington to see if the could stay there overnight!

Overhead wire problems, caused by a fallen tree which has been blown over in high winds, are disrupting services near Durham.

No trains are currently able to run between Darlington and Durham. Buses are running between Darlington and Durham, and will be extended to York and Newcastle to allow connections with train services.


Because of this, there are major delays to journeys of up to 120 minutes. These delays will continue until further notice.

East Coast passengers may use Virgin Trains services between London Euston and Scotland.
CrossCountry passengers may use Virgin Trains services between Birmingham New Street and Glasgow / Edinburgh.
CrossCountry, East Coast, First TransPennine Express and Grand Central are accepting each other's tickets..

Well got home safely. Train actually made up 10 minutes but then, where stuck behind a slower train on approach to crewe, then held in Crewe for 5/6mins to allow a London bound train to overtake Got into Wolvo' at 17:58 and missed my bus by around 3 minutes so had to get a taxi

Oh well got home safely is all what matters.

I don't fancy the trains chances tomorrow come rush hour in Glasgow. I'd imagine Bridgeton - Glasgow Central - Anderston - SECC will all be out. Whenever the weather becomes a bit fearsome, you lose that line for a few hours.

I went to Newcastle Central this evening to see a friend off.
It was 'total bedlam'. Southbound trains were advertising as running on the boards then at the last minute they were 'cancelled'.
The barriers were then opened and the travelcentre was closed, staff deployed to platforms. Even the managment were there.
Replacment coaches to Chester le street, Darlo and York then turned up after a while. It was like a scene from the Great Escape.
My friend jumped into a taxi with two other people as the wait for buses was a joke.
He caught the 20:20 off of York and is nearly at Kings Cross.....

It's usually flooding at Dalmarnock that takes this section out, so let's hope the rain recedes overnight.

It was pretty chaotic scenes at the Interchange with all four platforms full and trains waiting to come in off the Leeds branch line to either Manchester Vic, Blackpool North or Huddersfield.

I'm about 20 minutes north of Inverness (by road, rail takes 40 mins!) and the worst we've had is rain with a few gusts of winds; seems like I've got off scott-free!

I'm planning on taking the train home tomorrow though so hopefully nothing bad will happen on the Far North *knocks on wood*

That all went wrong very quickly- I was on the Blackpool North-York that arrive in Leeds at 16.39 and I'm pretty certain there were no other units in the station at all!

I left Leeds on the 17:23 Brighouse service and when we arrived into Bradford Interchange (platform four) at 17:45, the 17:50 Selby was delayed in platform one, with Manchester Victoria services in platform two & three.

The gate staff were telling people for stations to Sowerby Bridge and beyond to go via Leeds.

I got from Stirling to Linlithgow at 1700ish last night high winds but service just slightly late.

Got a bus from Linlithgow to Kirkliston to find the wind had taken the front gates off the site I am working on.

Was working all night winds fairly high but not as bad as the storm earlier this year
