I've just come from Cardiff to Newport, and while looking out the window I noticed a rather new-looking signal on the Gaer Jn branch. This is, of course, the single line junction between the Ebbw Vale line that needs to be reinstated for passenger use in order for Ebbw Vale trains to work to Newport instead of Cardiff.
The signal was turned 90 degrees, facing the hedges instead of the Ebbw line. Does anyone have any knowledge of what's afoot, and when things are due to happen?
