GA tonight at Seven Sisters

My girlfriend has just texted me to "stick that on your forum" due to me spending a little too much time viewing it!

She was just waiting at Seven Sisters for a Theobalds Grove train.

A Hertford East train pulled up but the platform info board stated that a Theobalds train was one minute behind.

As soon as the Hertford train departed the screen updated to say the Theo train was cancelled.

These are the things that really annoy customers and should be very easy to rectify.

National Rail is reporting earlier signalling problems at Liverpool Street affecting Platforms 1 to 10, i.e. the Suburban Lines. Lots of cancellations and delays.

The CIS on the West Anglia isn't brilliant, hence the recently announced upgrade programme, but I'm fairly certain it displayed the next three trains last time I was at Seven Sisters...though that may just be the screen by the bottom of the escalator.

Having said that, I don't think the current system can handle linked workings, so it doesn't "know" a train's cancelled if its previous working was, it relies on manual input.

Except it won't be coming to Seven Sisters! I think all the upgrade is is replacing the old TV-monitor-type-screens with newer LED ones, and Seven Sisters doesn't have any of that older type.

It has a new LED screen, just with incorrect info that leaves you stood in the cold for 40 minutes

Yes exactly, that's why Seven Sisters isn't being upgraded. The point I was making was that the upgrade isn't anything behind-the-scenes to provide more useful information (unfortunately); it's just replacing one screen type with another.

What did your girlfriend do in the end? At that time of the evening it might well have been quicker to jump on a 279 and walk up from the Cross than wait another 40 minutes for a train. (My local station's Turkey Street so I too have to suffer the poor service of the Southbury loop…)

Another option (assuming she held a suitable ticket) would've been to nip across to Tottenham Hale and up to Cheshunt, then walk (or bus) back from there.

Fortunately I'm nearer Edmonton Green, so tend to escape the worst of it, but it's easier to get to an alternative station down here too.

I wouldn't put her on a bus at Seven Sisters.

The trains were buggered on that line too so it would have been another gamble.

It old be great if there was better interchange info in the tube at Seven Sisters so a decision to stay on to Tottenham Hale would be a better option.

Or at least at the the top of the escalator before you have to tap out on your Oyster and go up and around the corner to see the train indicator at the bottom of the escalator up to the GA platform
