How long is it expected for GA to update their on board info display after the oyster zones were extended to Cheshunt?

Wouldn't this be part of the project plan?

They still state Turkey St and Enfield Lock as the Oyster limit.

Small pedantic point, but the extension in our part of the world is actually up to Broxbourne, not Cheshunt. (Originally it was planned as being to Hertford East but alas it was cut back.)

Wait, a GA scroll board working? The amount of 317's I get with a destination board flashing orange, omitting most/all of the message etc is quite high :P

I was going to put Broxbourne but wasn't 100% sure

I find that most of the time, they just constantly scroll the message that plays when the destination is set, complete with 'Next stop Shelford' at the end for the whole journey. Easily the best PIS in my opinion, because when this happens the announcements don't play, resulting in a peaceful journey!

Aha... that sounds like some of the FGW 165s/166s round here, which think that every station East of Crowthorne is... wait for it... Crowthorne!

A "stuck" onboard CIS display is certainly worse than useless for passengers who are unsure of their route and need to consult it, though, as well all know. Also, does the CIS mentioned in the quoted post above simply say "Please listen to announcements" when it has failed/isn't configured? This is just plain frustrating if there are no audio announcements!

It would be better to say 'listen for announcements' than giving the wrong information, but drivers probably won't do manual announcements for a failed PIS.

The screens on a 317 are so often corrupted or broken because I'm sure they're damaged by an inconsistent power supply - or they're just cheap crap. If the (limited) FCC fleet is anything go by, I'd say around 10% of the screens have some fault - either some corruption, total garbage or nothing at all.

When was the last time you saw a broken/corrupt screen on a tube train? I bet if they did screw up, they'd be repaired.. but I wonder if anyone even knows what sort of warranty National Express got when they fitted them to both the (now) FCC and GA trains.

Not all tubes have them of course, and they do fail, I've seen them. I guess the thing with tubes, (i'll use the Victoria line in particular here) they all (barring two at Brixton and Walthamstow for the first tubes, and maybe one at Victoria?) return to Northumberland Park, with 317's they could be out stabled at Cambridge, Orient Way, Bishops Stortford or Chingford and it could be a while before they can get their CIS's looked at.

That said, it still was no where near as annoying as the faulty Victoria Line train I had the other day that loudly told everyone to mind the closing doors from the moment the train stopped, until it left again, at every station.

I think the key is a tube train will be looked at and probably repaired. I doubt the systems on the 317s will ever be repaired as they're probably no longer made or there's no spares.

When NatEx installed them on the 317/1s they didn't buy the software so for a year or more they simply showed the time - and even at that stage, some were glitching, even before FCC took over and got them to actually do something.

The best glitch to me was the 378 that someone got on YouTube where it went into demonstration mode and read out every single possible announcement while in motion.. :D

With most of FCC's stock you'll find the PIS is either not there or not working... In the (rare) case of a functioning 365 system, you'll find me mocking 'BLondon King's Cross'. What fun :P

GA have still not updated the Oyster info on the on board info board. I noticed tonight it still said that Oyster is not valid beyond Turkey Street/Enfield Lock.

This has not been the case for months now, it gives off a very bad impression.

Now people will say there are bigger problems but they must have people employed to manage this and surely it was a task within a project?
