just revived the follow up message from GA and was wondering what I should reply with?

Your account was highlighted due to some tickets either being purchased on board the trains or on arrival at stations. These tickets have been scanned on the barriers just after purchase in order to exit the station. These tickets are not valid. This flagged your account as possible fraudulent travel.

For example:

20/06/2025 18:25  Ingatestone Chelmsford

Can you explain your correct origin station for this journey please? The scan time of this ticket at Chelmsford shows no train stopped at Ingatestone at this time.

In addition, our database holds no record of your 16-17 or 16-25 railcards from September 2024. Could you provide evidence of your railcards from this date please. This could either be your purchase email confirmations or from your railcard account.

Based on your response the decision will be to either (a) offer you the opportunity to repay any funds relating to these journeys, administration fees are added to any settlement; (b) pass your file to our prosecuting services for further action to be taken; or (c) to close the case and cease any further investigations into your transactions.

I said hi, I’ve have received an email by you and was told to contact you
Our advice was to not reply. There was a reason for that.

It is an offence to board a train without buying a ticket before boarding*.

This doesn't make the tickets invalid, and I really do wish Greater Anglia would stop saying that because it is a lie.

As you have chosen to engage, despite the advice not to, we now do need to know the following:
  • Have you been buying tickets after boarding teh train?
  • Has the origin and destination of these tickets been correct, or you been short-faring or doughnutting?
  • Did you hold the railcards?
You do have the right to remain silent but it may not necessarily be the best course of action now.

(*unless there were no ticketing facilities at the station or they were out of order).

Well that wasn't bright. The advice was not to reply.

Why did you decide to reply? What are you hoping to achieve?
