Hi,
Does anyone on this forum have any inside info on this project? I have a couple of questions about it.

After deciding to certify the engine for mainline running, the project rebuilt/restored an LMS BG to act as the support coach for the locomotive.

So my questions are:
1. Why an LMS design of support coach for a NE design locomotive? Seems a little odd to me.

2. I understand that the support coach has now been sold. What's become of it?

Cheers.

That one's easy to answer. Wooden bodied coaches are prohibited on the Network. Plus NER vehicles are somewhat scarce!

Try the VCT site for further details of this, or any other extant period coach.

They're not though - the regs were eased in 2011 to allow wooden bodied vehicles on the network. Still, seems odd that they'd do it in LMS livery rather than BR or even an NER/LNER livery design that used some artistic licence!

Not that simple AFAIK?
I know of one operation that asked for a dispensation for wooden bodied coaching stock, and last I heard, hasn't been able to get it. More recently than 2011.

I understand that it was these regs that led to the Bluebell's Chesham set being allowed to run on the LU lines?

I may have my facts wrong but I was under the impression that the regs had been significantly relaxed. If I'm wrong then I fully apologise!

LUL is totally different to mainline metals.
The LNERCA teaks not being permitted on the Esk Valley line, was the example I had in mind. That's only a low speed, isolated single line, and they can't even get a dispensation for it.

I was wondering about that actually. That's odd.
