Hi all, with the recent news that GBR might be back and return tickets to be scrapped to make everything more 'simple', what will the future for rangers and rovers be?
They're something I use often, as an enthusiast myself, so I would be very disappointed if they were to go, hopefully the government keep them or perhaps they make 'zones' in different areas like London and Birmingham and Manchester already have and have travelcard for each zone area?
I'm not sure but if anyone has any other ideas or information regarding rangers/rovers then do please say!

I suspect, apart from the Travelcard, their sales are minimal in reality.

I can see there being a 'rover' type ticket for London, Birmingham/West Mids, Greater Manchester and Merseyside as multi mode tickets i.e. train, bus tram - but if simplification is the order of the day, then Rovers and Rangers may not survive.

If they want simplification a good start would be in having a consistent name for these tickets.

Day Rover
Day Tripper
Day Saver

All the same thing!

Isn't that because they aren't all National Rail products ? i.e. either TOC specific or a non NR product e.g. issued by one of the 'Transport for' bodies ?

That's probably the reason, but it doesn't make it sensible.

Well it does - if you're TfGM for example you're going to want a brand which is consistent for your tickets across rail, Metrolink and buses, that' doesn't necessarily align with the brands used by National Rail.
