But in all seriousness PEP EMUs are much smaller than Mk3-based EMUs (you can see that by looking at a 455 with a 508 coach in it) - perhaps the tunnel floor wouldn't need dropping much to allow ex-Merseyrail 507s to be used, say?
Ally bodies too, so they shouldn't rot.
