Future engineering works - GWML

Having checked the GWR website unsuccessfully, I wonder if anyone has information on the likely state of the Great Western main line and South Wales main line (travelling from London) for the period between Christmas and New Year, particularly Sunday 29th December? It's a long way out, but it seems a good idea to manage expectations!

Interesting question. On a related note have the Euston diversion dates for December firmed up yet? Or a rough guess when they will.

Unfortunately it will be a similar situation to last year. There will be a block on the GWML for Old Oak Common works all day on the 29th, trains terminating at Reading/Ealing Broadway. What GWR's plan is, and whether diversions will take place is not something I can speak to. Regarding the rest of the Western that is the start of a 30 day blockade at Westbury (No service through Westbury, but avoiders open), although I doubt you would be travelling via there. It will also be a slow startup to services, with early morning disruption, and possibly a reduced timetable because of capacity at Reading and lack of units with North Pole isolated. South Wales should be okay from what i can see unless you're traveling to Trostre.

As much good news as I expected - bound to get lumbered with a 12:30 kick-off, then!!
