Further T&W Metro Disruption, this time North Shields

This starts tomorrow and albeit only for a few days but Platform 2 at North Shields will be out of action meaning passengers wishing to travel towards St James will have to travel to Tynemouth first and change to the other side and travel back and those travelling to North Shields from the coast will have to change at Meadowell to travel back.

Why don't they just add a few extra services on and have them terminate at North Shields using Platform 3 and create some sort of accessway so they can carry on with the works on Platform 2. This saves part of the disruption as those who wish to travel to St James can still do so and the only issue you have then is people travelling from the coast.

or even use the same platform? As far as I was aware the Metro is Bi-Directional. Sounds a pain, especially for my Wife who will be travelling from Shields to Meadowell

That's a very good point. I'm sure there would be a few passengers who would rather bus it or travel all the way to Monument and back up the Wallsend side instead of changing at Meadowell
