Gosh. How things change. Going back to the early days of privatisation there was nowt out of Barrow till after noon during winter sunday timetable. During the summer Sunday time table June to September you could escape in the morning The train north to Carlisle on a sunday was a distant dream.

Lancaster to Carnforth is closed as part of the Standard Possession Opportunities until 0930 on Sunday mornings. This means the first train south of Barrow cannot run into Lancaster and therefore terminates Carnforth. In the current period (B) up to and including Sunday 12 February this closure is extended to 1005 and as a result the second train south of Barrow is amended (although this is done in the LTP timetable) to also terminates Carnforth, as a result a bus is run from Lancaster to Carnforth for the return working which would normally start Lancaster.
Presume, in the absence of selective door opening being used on that particular type of train, the initial solution is for appropriate announcements to be made en route to Silverdale, and then, in due course, for the platforms at the station to be lengthened to accommodate 6 car trains. Hopefully, you're not suggesting use of shorter formation trains pro temp &/or skip stopping Silverdale.
I doubt Silverdale will ever get lengthened due to its location. On the other hand, I personally do think there is some wisdom in airport trains skipping out certain stations on the line, but since it's such a pain to get to and from those places by road it is on the whole not a good idea. Skipping Roose at least some of the time would hit fare evaders to Barrow pretty badly though.
