Went through Victoria on the Vic Line every night for a couple of years and the guy was like this all the time, he always had all the commuters smiling, top bloke.

Indeed. There are a few funny platform staff working at Victoria Tube. There was also a notable instance of a platform assistant at Liverpool Street who once announced in a very deadpan tone that "This here is an empty train straight out of the sidings - it's not like that happens every day, is it - I bet you don't believe me do you - do you honestly believe your eyes?" and thereby achieved the rare feat of having the whole platform laughing during an incident in which a Central Line train failed at Stratford and there were moderate delays.

I'm currently on a Virgin Trains service towards Euston, the train manager let two young girls from the Brownies group on board announce our arrival into Birmingham International. It sounded as though they enjoyed it and had the whole carriage smiling

That's only a dream for many a member of this forum I bet!!

The 4 and 8 carriage trains stop about 10m max from the exit. I'd definitely say they stop at the far end (in relation to the north entrance).

It's 40m from the exit and 60m from the end of the platform where the lift is. I suppose my concern was that somebody with mobility problems could come up in the lift, stay on the platform adjacent to it and then see the train stop further down the platform.
I agree it's not an issue for most people.

On a XC service today, and the announcement concluded. ..

This service is due to arrive in Nottingham at 1505, or in pounds, shillongs and pence is five past three.

Also on arrival at Derby it was change here for Sheffield, Chesterfield, Stoke, Crewe (etc etc etc) and also change at Derby for lots of other places, but there are too many for me to bother mentioning.
