Did anything happen then?

The Southampton ECHO is reporting some sort of PR event at Southampton Central involving Teresa Villiers et al, but nothing about a loco naming...

Doesn't appear to have been named, just been on BBC South Today.003 was the loco involved, which as we know is a HH loco.

Are these things expected to be used all over the network eventually or mainly on specific routes?

I'm wondering when I'll first see one come past my flat next to the south London line...would make a nice change from 66s.

A driver at work said im not likely to see 70012.Aren't they likely to rebuild it then?

Also how many 70's will there be?

Given they are a small fleet, I imagine they will be confined to certain workings. Of course, anything could happen really, as they have the same RA as sheds.

Is it just me or is there an illusion in the second photo of the Freightliner end looking a lot bigger than the Shanks end, making it look like two dissimilar locos welded together?

That was my impression as well when I first looked at it.

Anyone know if 70006 is there. My partner says she saw it doing a crew change at Eastleigh on Thursday at about 11:25.
Its not there any more, its been working off Crewe Basford Hall this weekend.

She didn't. It was 70007 working 4O14, Birtch Coppice - Southampton.
