FTPE Trainee Conductor Sheffield. Closing date today! (03/06/13)

Hi all...

Need some pretty urgent help;

I've only just seen the above job advertised and want to apply for it before the end of today. There are three questions I would like some guidance on (I'm not looking for someone to tell me the answers).

1. Please explain below your motivations for applying for this role

2. Please explain below why you are a suitable candidate for this position

3. At times the role of a conductor can become repetitive. How would you keep motivated?

(All 400 words max). As I said, I'm not looking for the answers but a bit of guidance on the sort of thing they are looking for. I managed to get an interview last December with Northern for the same role but failed at the interview so want to ensure I nail it this time round.

I would say:
1: You enjoy meeting new people.
2: You've got experence working in a custoer facing role
I wou'nt know what to put for number 3!

Now these on the other hand I could do with an answer. I personally would go for option 4. Please correct me if I'm wrong...

For this, I would go for option 4 again (manual transaction).

There's two different forms depending on whether the position is open to qualified conductors or not - hence the question above regarding experience as a qualified train conductor (as the Sheffield position was open to them).

I not a conducter at all! Ive neva worked on the railway before - apart from being a passenger if that counts!

I went for the same job in Newcastle, was also open to qualified conductors but the questions were nothing like that?? Closing date is the 10th. I'm really hoping something comes of it. Passed application form stage with east coast only to be told the assessment centre was full and I'd have to wait for next one. Frustrating.

Its pretty vague option 2 in the first box would also be ok aslong as you had time to do it. in fact i would rate 2 over 4

I would say option one, ask for an alternative method of payment. The job is about good service, tied in with revenue protection. His card may have been stolen and if you manually do it you could be taking money from someone elses account. Asking for a manager is not showing that you have authority so dont click that and withholding his ticket til he contacts his credit card company is no as well.
