FTPE online discount

On this page it states holders of 16-25 railcards can get 50% off instead of 33% by booking online.

But I can't find any fares on the TPE website with the 50% applied; has it expired or is it only available on certain ticket types?

I've only got access to the mobile site so maybe I'm just missing something.

Does the discount apply to SVR/SOR tickets on FTPE or is it only for Advance fares?

Edit: marcouk2, the link you've posted works previously I'd keep getting a 404 when trying to navigate away from their mobile site.

Bookmarked I don't imagine all my £1.20 fares into Manchester will add up to much but I'll certainly make sure to use it where possible, especially for any longer-distance trips.

So if I'm understanding this correctly, FTPE get a share of the revenue from all tickets sold through their website, even if they don't involve travel on FTPE at all? That explains the Nectar incentive I guess

Yes, they will get a proportion of the sales value as commission.

Yes, same for all ticket sellers. 5% I think.

Thanks for the link, I've had a read of it.

Could it be argued that websites such as The Trainline are actually hurting the rail industry; as they are taking commission away from the TOCs that might otherwise reinvest it?

TOCs only reinvest if they have to. Bunce money would go to executive bonuses and dividends, preferably in that order if the execs can swing it.

Exactly. However, a lot of customers are just naïve because they're new to the whole online ticketing scene. I have a friend who bought tickets with the trainline this week. My heart sank a little when I found out but she now knows to use Virgin or TPE in future.

I wonder if TTL employees are told to use TTL for their tickets?
