Out of curiosity, what problems do you face with ScotRail?

As a regular user of Scotrail, they are by far the most reliable, consistent TOC that I travel with. You can generally always rely on their trains running (bar an issue outside their control), the service is consistent and normally punctual, and customer service is generally pretty good!

Bear in mind the RMT have already settled with ScotRail, so any issues faced are likely related more with NR strikes than ScotRail themselves.

Dyce to Aberdeen. Short notice cancellations are quite frequent. Check at 9am train on time. Check at 11.15 before walking to the station cancelled.

They have also been cancelling all local services between Inverurie and Montrose for hours on end for the hell of it. Slightest thing happens and they're off.

Wasn't like this under Abellio. It's gone badly downhill over the past couple of months.

I think that it's a reasonable offer in principle, but when it comes to details, I think that getting a strike prohibition into contracts as with the police would result in very substantial pay rises across the board. I'd support such an offer being made of 25 - 30% rises, with slightly more at the bottom of pay scales, but convincing the government to cough up that much money would be problematic.

You don't think that it is more likely that the government will introduce any such change through legislation rather than though a negotiated settlement?

I'm interested in where but I'm already well off topic....

For that reason I'll keep it very brief.

1. Go to their Codex sandbox, take a simple function you want to refactor in a language it supports*. Describe what you want it to do and see what it does.
2. Got to their GPT3 sandbox, with a davinci engine, and ask it to document an existing functions
3. Go to their GPT3 sandbox, give it a couple of samples of an existing library of yours. Ask it to document a function which doesn't currently exist but which would make sense to add to your library
4. Having done 3 now go back to Codex and get it to write the library.

NB I'm only referring to the 'AI' part here as it's the most... topical and cool. In reality most of the automating of development is about e.g. generating tests or so on but the above is most exciting if you haven't done it.

*If it doesn't support that language then even more crazily try it with GPT3 and it may work anyway!

The railway is no longer paid for by the people that agreed those contracts.

Almost everywhere traincrew have a 35hr working week, not 40hrs. Where the breaks are paid, this effectively reduces this further as most jobs are 37-40 with breaks unpaid.

Whoever agreed them, 32-33hrs actual duty is not full time and it is wrong to compare the salaries with roles that are.
