Good Morning guys,

Hope you are all keeping safe and well.

Just a quick question to ask how TOCs carry out their front end cleans on trains at Engineering Depots?

Thanks

After following relevant depot protection procedures, Someone gets a long handled broom, scrubs the front end by hand with some detergent and rinses the dirt off with a hose.

It does seem a bizarre question! But yes, some TOCs will have someone standing on a ladder/platform with a brush/water/bucket/detergent. Other TOCs may even just have a brush and bucket on the platform. A lot of train wash plant just throws water, foam and brushes at the side.

Okay always done on a platform? Not on the side of the track? This was mainly why he was asking. Thats why I think the question sounded bizarre it was just the specifics not how it is generally done.

At DLR (not heavy rail I know) our wash plant also washes the fronts and coupled ends of trains
