Natives are not happy that Network Rail first said this would take until 5th March, then extended the works by 4 weeks due to supply chain issues, plus problematical BT cabling.
People accepted this was perhaps unforeseeable.
Now NR rail have said they'll be a further 7 week delay, meaning the busy main road between Torquay and Paignton will not reopen until 23rd May.
Given that Torbay relies very heavily on tourism this has gone down like a lead balloon.
The local MP has waded in suggesting that he has been told NR ( or their contractors) ordered the wrong cranes.
NR have been doing some brilliant work along the coast at Dawlish, but seem to have let themselves down quite badly in this instance.
