I'm sort of in the same boat, I'm on holiday 3rd week in September, I haven't heard back about my SJT and VSE yet but if i make it through I prey it doesn't land on those dates I'm away.

Does anyone know, if you cant make the day could they book you in for another date?

Taken directly from the email I received after passing the online VSE + SJT:
"If you are not able to attend the assessment centre then do let us know as soon as possible, however please be aware that your application may be placed on hold until such time when we will be running these assessments again. If you fail to attend on the day without letting us know beforehand, then you may not be invited to attend another assessment day."

I was replying to the post from user 'slidingdoors' who spoke about the assessment day and searching through symbols whilst counting beeps, where as in the literature we got with the email inviting us to the assessment centre it said we would be looking at information from a phone directory whilst counting beeps, was just wondering if he was speaking from experience or not and whether or not I need to dig out the yellow pages for some practise!

Hey guys just got home from the assessment day having stayed at the Ibis the night before. For any of those travelling far I would highly recommended staying there despite the expense!!
There was a lot of people that turned up more than the last assessment center I went to so they won't send you home there and then if you don't pass its a tedious wait for up to a couple of weeks for the OPC to get back to you as whether you proceed to the next stage. The advantage to this is that you get to sit all the tests.
The next stage will be held at FL HQ in Crewe and will be around 5-6 candidates due to the nature of the assessments.
As for the stage one assessments it started with the Group Bourdon and then TRP 1 & 2, DFFT and lastly TEA OCC, don't quote me on this as I only had to sit the Group Bourdon and then left so the guys that stayed on will be able to help you out more.

Stigy - I managed to get there and back for free by going via BHM

Hi mate hope it went well for you today, just a question on the dfft if you could help do all the questions on it always have at least 2 faults to find or in some of the questions is there only one fault? Thanks.

Anyone who has passed the fault finding section can you tell me how many you completed in the 15 minutes you're allowed?. Think my assessment went really well barring that and now im worried I may have failed on that. I'm hoping I scraped through by some miracle.

Hi, hoping it went well I may have failed the DFFT. trying to see if someone knows how many were completed and passed already. Their were a few where only 1 fault is present, and a few their are 2 or even more, but they give you instructions which faults to prioritise as you only have 2 boxes per question to put answers in if that helps.

Hello mate. When I did it earlier this year I got to and completed question 14 out of the 20.

Don't quote me but I read somewhere on this forum a while ago enhanced question 9 upwards getting 100% accuracy which it's all about. But as I say don't quote me on that stat.

Luckily I didn't have to do stage one so good luck to all and hopefully see you soon for stage 2.

Out of all the tests this is the one that worries me the most any information on the test and the jist of it would be much appreciated.

You will be given a set of fault finding instructions to be followed in a certain order. Nothing really to worry about. The practice material is very similar to the actual test.

Good luck for tomorrow mate you'll be fine anyone worried about the Dfft it's pretty similar to a troubleshooting section of an appliance it's not as bad as it seems! i think i did 13/14 too.I nearly balls up the cables and dials it was only because the lady told me i made a mistake and I asked a question that I realized what I was doing wrong lol so don't be afraid to ask questions if your unsure of anything

Don't rush. You have 15 minutes. Set up your paperwork on you desk so you know where everything is and take your time. 100% accuracy is key imho. Also, realise you are not going to finish that test. I think you have to be superhuman to finish the Dfft with no mistakes.

I can't remember any issues with the Batterys tbh. Just take your time cross checking everything. You'll realise during the example questions what you're looking for.

Yes it took the full four hours well over 4 hour as didn’t start till 1315 due to the women having their dinner

We started off with the group bourdon test which is very similar to the software on here apart from the dots being smaller the lady did not disclose the time we had. At this point my confidence sky rocketed as this felt really easy

We then did the trp1 which in my opinion was solid. We had to memorize and take notes on an article related to trains I believe it began with a g. We then had our notes and the article removed and then we had to complete a multiple choice on the subject. Most of the questions seemed to relate to the last few paragraphs. I did not get as far as the last 2 paragraphs to make notes. I suffered massively on this and could probably say for certain I got 5 correct. I can't even remember what the article was about just some up how bad I did in this. I think there're were 20 questions.

Next was trp 2 with the dials. I completed 19 out of 43 I think it was. I'm confident I got them correct I just don't believe I did enough. Some candidate I had spoke to completed all.

We then had a break.

We did the tea occ. Part 1 was listening to tones. You had to count the low tones. I'm confident I got at least half the questions right.

Part 2 was circling the symbols on yellow pages I'm certain I did well o n this.

Part 3 was doing both however I. Pretty sure there wasn't any high tones this just low tones you had to count. That or I really messed up on this.

We had a ten minute break.

And last was dfft I answered 19 out of I think 40 questions Im Confident I got them correct but again I probably didn't do enough.

The training material they send out I felt was useless. The real tests were alot more complicated and had more to work out.

The test administrator will.make sure you understand what to do on the test and to all who want advise I would just say try your best and good luck.

Agree the training stuff sent out was useless. But pretty much summed it all up there for anybody wanting to know

Thanks for the info. I recall the Group Bourden or dots being easy for me the first time round so I’m not particularly worried about that aspect (although naturally cautious as I know things can change)....it’s the other bits I’m wary of, but again it’s the intensity more than difficulty for me I think.

I am curious about what the paragraph that you have to remember the details is about ? The memory test.
