The first day is a Group Assesment Session. I assume this some sort of team building/problem solving type of assessment as I makes no mention of any structured tests.

I’ve had a look at previous Freightliner threads and can’t find any info on it, can anyone confirm the format of the day?

No idea. Let’s have fun finding out. I also noted that the letter states psychometrics will be to an enhanced standard. I hope the arriva enhanced ones I banked meet or exceed this benchmark.

Well it didn’t turn out to be a group exercise in the end. Was the written communication test and some other bits. Results in 1-2 days.

I had the morning session. I think about 15/20 turned up to mine but I didn’t count.only 900 applicants overall. Quite low for such a big catchment area I thought.

Hi guys, really interesting post and I’m hopefully you could shed some light on some stuff the company hasn’t yet touched on, most importantly pay? What is the training rate and how long is the average training till you are fully qualified? Many thanks and look forward to the replies.

Not sure about training rate. Pay once qualified was around 45k. Read that on another thread.

Intermodal

Pay is around 45k ish, I left a year ago, and the pay was around £44, 1?? then.

Pay deal comes into effect on the Feb's pay packet.

Overtime every 4 weeks.

Overtime paid at flate rate, also R/D's.

Sunday inside, flat rate.

4 hour movements off spare.

1 hr wait time for a late running, pending your actual hours, that day.

Jobs are from 5 hrs to 11hrs, I suppose some depots it may change. I think we had a 10:40 ish. Quite a few 10 hr jobs !!!! at my depot.

100% pension, but double check that. At the moment it's 100%, but things are changing in the freight world.

You get mod payments. If your booked diagrams changes to more hours, there was a standard 1hr payment, then double mins that you was over by.
Im sure there was another type of mod payment as well, but I can't remember.

Rosters are 13 week cycles......I wasn't at Mossend, but all depots should run the same.

Your 2 wks leave is made up from a week of restdays and a week of 5 days leave. So the 12th and 13th you was off. This could be diferent at other depots, it could be line 13 and week 1, your off.

If I can remember, you could use one of your weeks off as extra floating days.

It "was" 6 floating days, plus BH's, on top of your standard leave.

You get sign on money which was £10 per day, non pensionable. I think it works out £1800 ish, minus your leave.

You work 4 days a week "OVER" the course of the year. Some weeks 3 days, some weeks 5 days, etc etc. Some depots may vary.

Not many weekends, so I take it Mossend would be the same.

Not sure what the scope of HH work is up there, but you can or could opt to learn T3's and CL6 trains, but under HH conditions for that day.

Not sure on Mossends routes, but they do come to Crewe...They did lodge at one stage at Crewe, but Im going back years ago.

Thanks guys much appreciated, seems the money Isn’t as good as what the rumours are, I was told it was around £65K a year based on a 35:5 hour week, I take it there’s no over time or weekend work then??

IM get paid less than HH - as the working pattern is said to be a lot better

Rumours not required. The salaries are all on aslef website. IM £45k basic HH £51 basic.
