Hi, I’ve been looking on the threads to see if someone has posted about the upcoming course in June?

I’ve received my start date for training and just wondering if anyone else here is going to be on it.

I haven’t received locations yet though so I may be a bit early!

It’s taken me the best part of 2 years to get to this point after not getting my medical info back in time on numerous occasions. The first time I had my course dates, itinerary, conditional offer all done only for my go to drag his feet so I’m extreamly happy to get it all done this time round.

Well done on getting through. Am I reading it correctly that it’s a trainee shunt driver, do you know where you’re doing your course?

Eastleigh driver here.. i would hope.. given they've just refurbished all things FL at Eastleigh, and your location being Eastleigh.. that they may try and make use of the meeting room they now have there..

there are going to be a good deal of vacancies at Eastleigh by year end, so hopefully they move the current shunt drivers mainline and backfill with you guys that are training.. i fully expect you to be sent to some obscure part of the country tho ^^

Hey, thank you. It’s taken a while but glad to finally be at this point.
Yeah I’m being entered as a trainee shunt driver but as it’s based in Southampton I have to do mainline training as they do a bit of that here.
I believe it’s a week in Crewe and the rest in Doncaster.

Hey, I’ve been told by HR that it will be a week in Crewe and the rest in Doncaster. Would obviously prefer to be local and not have to commute to see the family at weekends but will all be worth it in the end.
how long have you been driving?

Might see you at Crewe then. I’m guessing it’ll be induction, uniform and a bit around the locos before going to Donny to do your tuition and basic handling on the simulator.

A lovely 4 hour drive on a Sunday night for you., make sure you use your full dinner allowance everyday! £25 worth of maccy Ds a day and you’ll soon look like a proper driver.

2 years productive mainline now, but we regularly go down to the maritime to cover etc

It’s easily done. I put 2 stone on while sitting my rules! If you have the option of booking different hotels I strongly recommend it premier inn gets abit boring after a few weeks. If they send you to Doncaster it’s right in the city centre so there’s plenty of things to do when not in the class room.

Congratulations on getting a start date! It's great to hear that they are finally moving people out of the talent pool and into trainee positions.

I've been in the Crewe talent pool for a bit over two years now and I'm starting to lose my mind over how long the process is taking lol.

Can I ask did you have to re-interview or take any online tests again?
