Freightliner qualified Driver vacancies

Both Freightliner companies are after quite a few drivers.(qualified)

Intermodal- 16
Various locations nationwide.

They have been advertising for a while, along with DB Cargo and GBRf. Current lack of freight drivers across the board, plus looks like DB will be taking on trainees at some point this year.

Saw a Freightliner loco today that actually had an adverted painted on the side of it, advertising vacancies for drivers and ground staff.

They are starting a trainee driver course this year, but the vast majority are internal promotions.
I reckon they will do more trainee courses in the future as qualified drivers aren't exactly queuing up to join due to the extreme volatility of the Railfreight industry these days since the demise of power station coal traffic.

Not sure when the trainee course will start as there are at least two more qualified conversion courses starting at the end of this month and also in March.

The same DB that made a huge number of its Drivers redundant not too long ago? The mind boggles.....its almost like it was all a clever plan to get everyone on the new contract without having to worry about existing staff kicking up too much of a fuss.

Opportunities are limited to become a driver. If it's what you want to do then I would go for it. A lot easier to move as a qualified than it is to get on a trainee course.

Very common.

Freightliner are the same. My TOC and others took on a number of drivers from them about 18 months ago, all of whom seem happy to be out of there.
