Hi all,

I’ve seen that Freightliner are currently recruiting Qualified Drivers at Eastleigh and I wondered if anyone had any information on the work content, roster and route knowledge at Eastleigh depot?

Thanks very much!

Lots and lots of nights, and mainly long jobs. Some rostered lodging I believe.

From my own research (was thinking over transferring from passenger) I imagine you'll be at least running up to Crewe/Trafford park/ maybe Garston? as they run containers down to Southampton (via Eastleigh) and maybe over to Wembley. Good luck with your application.

From what I hear Eastleigh is forever recruiting which says something. I did hear they lose drivers to SWR on a regular basis.

Quite an interesting read this thread, as I have just moved a matter of minutes away from the depot (Fair Oak), thus this depot is top of my list to get working at!

Routes are Nuneaton/Landor Street via Oxford or via Wembley. Cardiff/Barry via Swindon or via Westbury. Also Avonmouth. Lots of local jobs and shunt jobs at Southampton Maritime too.
Quite a relatively high turnover of Drivers.

Thanks for the info dieseldriver. In your opinion, why is there a high turnover?

Because the hours are long, the start and finish times are poor and they pay the smallest salary in the industry (freight). See post 2 above.
