Freightliner derailment in B/ham on Google Maps

Having seen someone's post about stock at Bournemouth depot from the air... by pure chance I have just found this Freightliner derailment on Google Maps

http://maps.google.co.uk/ and paste these co-ordinates into the search; 52.490935, -1.865123

This could be the start of something very sad - who can find someone spraying graffiti in a yard...

Nice! NB, in future, you can use the "Link" button on the top left to produce a link to whatever you're looking at at the time. I've then shoved that into Snip Url (snurl.com) to give this link.

I love that if you zoom in you can see all the guys in hi-vis. Graffitiers may be harder to spot...

I have also seen in places "ghost" trains- due to the way the aerial photo map is made up, sometimes a train will end up on the boundary between two photos. As they fade them together, this results in a train that appears to be appearing from/disappearing into thin air. It's really clear with a TOC such as SWT who paint the roof of the trains.

Found one myself in Stoke-on-Trent, but couldn't find it on maps.

I believe it's the phenomenon jopsuk was talking about, but this time the Pendos were going fast enough to look like there is two trains on the same line and possibly the same block - unthinkable.

That's a Virgin Class 220 Voyager (at the time) towards the bottom of the photo, with the Virgin Pendolino towards the top..

but i'm sure you already knew that anyway

could even be the same Voyager, twice. The size of shadows, and the lighting, suggests the photos were taken not very far apart in time.

This looks the same one.

Right outside the signalling centre too by the looks of it!

Looking at the map it looks like the cars are parked close to the pavement next to the houses doesn't look like there are moving cars to me though on the road.

As for the SWT comment, yes I've seen some Class 450 overhead shots, looks odd seeing a two car 450

here's a good 'un

As ffor the cars on that Voyager shot- whilst some of them will be mving too, the train may well be moving much quicker, and it just happens that no car moved far enough between shots to appear in both. Certainly a heck of a lot more believable than the alternative- ie trains tailgating!

There's a double Scotrail 158 with a curve in one coach at 55.952759, -3.184780
There also seems to be something blocking its path into the station that doesnt look like another 158, so I dont think it's the same train
