Freightliner cripples recovered from Shrewsbury Sutton Bridge

The two Heavy Haul hoppers that have been parked in the siding next to the Cambrian line at Sutton Bridge Junction had been hauled into the NR Ertms class 97 light maintainence depot this morning by a unidentified Class 70. lorry with new wheels in NR yard. This at 0940 no sign of them when I returned 1730.

What's the story behind this? (Why were they there?)

Presumably detached with bearing problems - though I recall a track spread derailment a year or so back. Expensive things to leave lying around ......

It's possible they were retained unrepaired for a while for an investigation if they were involved in an incident.
