Does anyone know the reason for a number of Freightliner's class 66s going into storage recently?
A few examples currently stored include:
66419, 66502, 66508, 66510, 66512, 66518, 66528, 66536, 66540, 66562, 66593

Lack of traffic as a result of (almost) everything shutting down? At a guess

Do you really not know the answer to that question?? o_O

The country is facing the biggest economic downturn for 100 years or more,
so railfreight will take a absolute battering over the coming weeks as factories/
construction projects are forced to either shut down altogether or vastly reduce
their throughput.

In addition, Network Rail are postponing a lot of 'non safety critical' engineering work,
so far fewer ballast/spoil/rail trains will be needed for the forseeable future.

This sudden, unforeseeable contraction means that overheads have to be slashed,
which means locomotives going into store/off lease and traincrew being laid off.

I did think that was the most likely reason but was just checking in case there was another reason unknown to me.
Is there a particular reason for Freightliner officially marking locos as in storage but the likes of DB/GBRF aren't (as of yet at least)?

DB, GBRf and Colas have all stopped locos over the last week.
