Freightliner 2 Strike Policy

Good evening

I have applied for a trainee train driver role and today received this email saying I can't proceed because.

Unfortunately, we have identified that you have:

1. Two unsuccessful attempts at the national or enhanced process (these include VSE and M7-SJTonline tests) OR
2. You have sat an assessment in the past six months and have been unsuccessful at the national/ enhanced standard. these include VSE and M7-SJT online tests)

I did take a psychometric test in May 2019 for a toc which I failed. The only sjt I have ever done is in the initial application process for transpenine and Lner, think there was about 12 questions with different scenarios and it wasnt timed either. Do these scores go on a national database and stop me from applying for this role?
I understand you only get 2 lives for psychometric testing, is it the same regarding sjt?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

SjT for the individual TOCs are specific to those companies and those alone.

I will give them a call today to try and clarify what they mean. I have never heard of tocs individual sjt stopping you from applying for a job with somebody else. I thought somebody might be able to shed a bit of light on the matter.
I will post back when I get a response from them.

Theoretically you should be given another chance at all the tests assuming you have only failed each test once.

I thought the general consensus was that the online assessment lives were separate to the assessment center test lives. For example failing the online assessments twice shouldn’t exclude you from applying to companies that don’t use the online assessments.

I haven't sat 3 assessments I have taken 1 psychometric test in 2019 after passing DMI interview. I have also applied for Lner, the first part of the application was nvc test then a sjt. I must of passed both of them because I then got invited to a online interview. The only other application I have done was for transpenine online where it was a similar set up to the lner process and wasn't successful.
Are you suggesting that after applying for a trainee train driver role, I should give up after 3 job applications?

This is what I don't understand, I did a sjt and nvc test when applying online for lner, I must have passed them both because I then got invited to a online interview.

The issue I have is that I have never had any unsuccessful attempts and the only assessment I have sat is with SouthEastern, which I was successful.

Does anyone know why the records would show I have been unsuccessful?

I’ve had the same issue. It will be to do with one of your individual tests not passing to their standard. I emailed the Opc to find out which one it was for me and they kindly replied and gave me the info. A bit disheartening but at least I now know that although my scores pass to some tocs/focs standard it isn’t necessarily high enough for all.

Just thought, I also couldn’t re-sit that particular test because it was within 6 months so if your assessments with south eastern are within 6 months you can’t re-apply.

I had the exact same email, I have only ever sat 1 test before which was in 2019. I phoned them today, they took my details and within 30 minutes they had apologised for there mistake and sent me a link to complete the test.
I would give them a call tomorrow

Confusing how this works. There’s the National and enhanced. The National I thought was the same for every TOC/FOC. The enhanced I thought was just the VSE which some TOC/FOC don’t even use and doesn’t count towards one of your lives. I.E if you did all the psychometric and passed but failed the VSE you will have valid passed test for three years and keep both your lives.

It's only a full on 1 life gone fail if below natonal standard.
If above national but below the enhanced mark for that toc/foc then it's 1 of your 2 fails for that toc/foc and any which require a pass mark above your result.
It may still be a pass for other toc/focus enhanced mark as all seem to have different

I know someone that passed to national on group bourdon and not enhanced. The tests have a national standard and the companies can set their own enhanced score. Some will also use extra tests, which include a mixture of dfft , magnificent seven sjt , visual search exercise.

Sorry I don't know. I was talking generally. The person that got group bourdon national, was for a different toc. My point was that it isn't just extra tests and that the main tests can be enhanced.

Oh ok I see. Thank you. Well the Opc have said to me that the group bourdon score was not high enough so I guess that’s that on this particular vacancy. Once 6 months have passed I can re apply if any vacancies come up
