Sure, but do any of these things contain particularly large quantities of combustible parts?

I was under the impression that other than a bit of cable sheathing, most of what's in an electric loco is metal?

If I remember rightly, this was asked a long time ago and the answer was that a number of items that get very hot are oil cooled.

Before it left Bletchley the fire brigade were still checking the loco over. There was a "normal" firemean with a yello hat and an "incident commander" with a white hat and black rings on site

They do get worked hard, afterall they are going to be on full power a lot of the time when hauling heavy freightliners, compared to passenger service when it's a couple of minutes acceleration followed by cruising.

The transformers and rectifiers on electric locos are both oil cooled so are a fire souce if things get hot. Another thing that can cause minor fires (that depending on circumstances can spread) is rubbish pulled in by the cooling fans. Rheostatic brake grids are fairly prone to that.
