There's a power station right next to St Neots but I though it was gas. It has an old rail yard if I remember right

some GN stations are being lengthened for the new link to Thameslink, I remember Biggleswade being lengthened some time back. Could be related?

Whitemoor is an infrastructure base. So if it is an engineers train and it it is arriving into a late night engineering works possession (starting at St Neots) you won't necessarily see a matching return trip, it might be returning from the other end of the possession, which could be at a significantly different location north or south of St Neots.

I thought about that after posting and can see trains are replaced with busses tonight so that seems to be the case. Thank you
