Hi

Is there much freight through Shrewsbury these days? I often hear heavy rumbling in the early hours but not much in the evening...its just I am planning to get off my lazy bottom and head off and do some spotting and would be nice to see some locos as well as the DMU's.

Hi

Is there much freight through Shrewsbury these days?
- steel from Margam to Dee Marsh (up to two trains a day)

- flyash from Drax to Aberthaw (once or twice a week)

- cement empties from Moorswater to Earles (once a week)

- MoD traffic from Donnington to Warrington (once a week)

- stone from Moreton on Lugg to Leeds (once a week)

- cars from Portbury to Mossend (twice a week)

- empty timber carriers from Chirk to Carlisle/Ribblehead

...and not forgetting the daily 37-hauled Cambrian/Marches RHTT
and 57-hauled (until December) Holyhead to Cardiff and return
passenger working.

I am planning to get off my lazy bottom and head off and do some spotting and would be nice to see some locos as well as the DMU's.
If it helps, Freightmaster Online features a regularly updated Shrewsbury
freight timetable which lists all the trains I mentioned above...
