Freight only lines

I have just come back from a week in my caravan at Nether Whitaker.

From the caravan field was a view, across Hogrills End Lane of the line from Nuneaton to Coleshil Parkway.

Whilst looking at this line, on my right, very close, was a view of the line from Coleshiil to Tamworth.

During my very wet week there the number of freight trains was phenomenal at one point averaging at about 5 per hour. I only saw one passenger train on the Coleshill/Tamworth line during the whole week, I believe it was a X Country Voyager, and on some days only a freight train or two.

Is the Coleshill/Tamworth line a freight only occasional passenger diversion line as it appears to have no regular service at all?

The primary route for passenger trains to/from Coleshill Parkway is to use the avoiding line (when heading east, turn left at Water Orton). The linking line from Coleshill Parkway is slower and is only used when it needs to be used - basically for diversions (planned or unplanned), and normally at odd times for route learning purposes.

You can see using RTT https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/se...19-10-22/0000-2359?stp=WVS&show=all&order=wtt that there are three north/eastbound passenger trains using it. There are also south/westbound trains that use it too but RTT's filter seems to be broken right now so I can't tell you how many off hand!
