Good morning, for the second Sunday this summer, I have been awoken by a very ‘long’ train passing through the station in the distance. I looked it up on RTT and came across this: https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U34982/2019/09/22/advanced

Last time, the train departed from Hoylake and terminated in the same place.

I really can’t see this being freight, so does anybody know if Merseyrail are sending any of their units down to Crewe for maintenance or some other reason? It’s the only plausible explanation I have. If I knew it was going to come through, I’d have got up and headed up the road to take a look.

Scheduled to pass Crewe camera 1 on Railcam at 09:08 currently running 26 early so could be before that if given the road.

It looked like an aggregate train. Very strange!

Maybe something to do with the platform upgrade works on the West Kirby line, ready for the new Stadler stock.
The line is closed this coming week between West Kirby and Hoylake.

... and indeed from Hamilton Square, both the New Brighton and West Kirby lines are / have been bustituted all day today and yesterday.

There are paths for a repeat this evening / early hours of tomorrow.
