Hi,

First time poster her. Fascinating stuff this ticketing business.

Journey: Bath Spa to Exeter St Davids

Q1: Are the rovers, FoSW (or FoSS) valid on the 8.57 from Bath Spa.
(On the face of it, no as the rover as a time restriction of after 9:00, but according to post with Manual extract this train is an exception)

Q2: Assuming this train is indeed an exception, would it likely lead to argument with controlling staff? Would it be beneficial to show some proof of the exception?

Q3: Assuming it is not an exception, could I get a single to KYN (Keynsham) to beat the time restriction? (this train doesn't stop at KYN, but I understand that 19(c) would apply)

Best wishes,
Gero

My understanding is that the 0857 from Bath Spa will be valid with a Freedom of the South West rover, the train is listed an exception from Swindon onwards.

Yes, the 0857 from Bath Spa, as well as the others listed via the link in the OP, are easements to the 'Not before 0900' rule for the Freedom of the South West Rover.

I have a friend who travels regularly from Swindon at 0827 using a FOSW. He's never encountered any issues.

For further peace of mind the easements are listed by the FOSW fare setter, First Great Western, on their website:

Thank you, very informative answers.

That link to the TOC on the FGW website was not obvious (i.e. I was looking for something like that, but short of searching the site, I never spotted links to that from obvious places. A common problem with information rich sites I guess).

I have not been able to find an equivalent TOC for the "Freedom of Severn and Solent rover". Does that mean that the easement only apply to the FoSW and not to FoSS? (or is that implicitly covered, same with FoDC)?

Thanks again

The easement on the 0827 from Swindon applies to the Freedom of Severn and Solent as well.
