Free texts & calls - Blyk

Just read about this service called Blyk. It's a service for 16-24 year olds where you get a SIM and you get 217 free texts and 43 free minutes per month, in return for them sending you MMS adverts. You can "top up" for credits above this, similar to a Pay As You Go phone.

I've signed up and have a limited number of invites, but you can text JOIN to 82925 and you should get a code yourself.

Hmmm...Wonder if I could "bodge" my Motorola C-520 to accept MMS packets from the network, then simply discard them because it couldn't ever display the things after all!
(The C-520 has a 16x2 alphanumeric display, with 5x7 pixel display of each character. It's an ancient phone, but it still works just about everywhere including most LuL lines! )

Why is there an age restriction on the service though? Isn't that effectively age discrimination?

I found it by pure chance, located the charger and plugged it in - and it worked first time.
It's huge and insanely heavy compared to my current phone. an Nokia N95 8gb.
And it's a bloody pain to text with!

I got an older version than that free with my first PC in about 1997, hehe.

I use a o2 sim which allows me 300 free texts if I top up £10 a month, it gets more depending how much I top up per month. These o2 sim's are also free.

It's just I don't wanna change my number, but I will look into this new company!
