Free First class weekend upgrade for Virgin Anytime tickets ?

What do you mean by an Anytime Short ticket? I'm not sure if I've heard of such a thing - that's a new one on me. I can't find any mention of it on the Virgin Trains website.

Anytime Return - outward portion valid for 5 days, return portion one month.

This is open to abuse on shorter routes where Anytime Returns are available so Anytime Short Returns have been introduced on some flows:

Anytime Short Return - outward portion valid for one day, return within one month.
