Hi,
I received this email from GA regarding travel irregularities, which was also sent with a letter:
To provide additional context, I was “caught” short-faring between my local station and a station before my actual stop - this being from south essex to stratford but my ticket was only valid through to Shenfield. I was then stopped by two plain clothes officers at Stratford who asked to see my ticket and upon discovering that my ticket was only valid to Shenfield, they interviewed me at the station and took my details. I panicked and lied, saying that I had only gone to Stratford bc I was late for work and needed to try to get in on time - in truth for the past month from the day of the stop I had only bought tickets to and from Shenfield, but going to Stratford.
I know it was wrong of me to do so, and have bought the correct tickets ever since that day. But now I’m obviously not sure what to do, do I reply? what do I even say? I cannot change my statement or say I’ve lied without it causing anymore issues but am not sure if I should reply but if I do then what do I say?
when i say caught i did genuinely mean caught, as the plain clothed officers stopped me at stratford and they were from the BTP
