I don't know if it's necessarily AI, could just be good old-fashioned scrapers.
But if you were wanting to train an AI, 6.5 million human written messages here (ignoring the 1 million in the Quizzes and Games section), it'd be an excellent dataset, especially where there's technical knowledge.

The Enron Corpus is only 1.7 million messages and near enough every model has been trained on it due to the value of normal human discussion.

I'd be tempted to say if this keeps happening to just restrict it to only members, but obviously a lot of the visitors are guests so it wouldn't be fair to the actual humans. The way I found these forums in the first place was it showing up in Google search results.

Oh, I don't doubt that it might be for AI, but it may well not be AI.

In the early days of this website, postings in the Quizzes and Games forum were eligible for inclusion in members' official posting count, but the website decided not to allow them for inclusion in 2012. I have made well over 100,000 postings in that forum since joining the website in 2011.

Sounds like something to do with your cookies settings.

Never knew that the quiz threads on the Quizzes and Games forum were so popular with "guests" from what I have seen in the information shown that relates to the number of people watching each thread, if that matter is to be believed.

There have been issues on-and-off since just before midday.

It's very sluggish now, but not returning these errors anymore. Definitely had better days.

I had a feeling that something may occur today when on the Quizzes and Games forum threads that I participate upon, I logged on in the early morning hours and instead of reading that just myself and a couple of "visitors" were on a thread, my popularity must have skyrocketted as a typical thread footnote stated myself and 27 "visitors" were on the thread...

This week gone by makes me think the website has been affected by a ballroom dancing course....Slow Slow Quick Quick Slow.. :D

Hmmm. I keep getting offline notices and a screen that has the top banner but nothing else. Have to leave it five mins or so before trying again. Happening on both my MacBook and iPhone.

Apologies - I’ve been away over the weekend so timing could definitely have been better! I’ve made some changes yesterday and again this morning - hopefully it’ll look a bit better now but will keep an eye.
