Firstly, last year's winter warm up. All four locos in use came together at Harman's Cross - the 2 class 33's double heading one train crossing 31806, while 30053 had shunted the freight and was waiting to return LE to Swanage. With a decent sunset to boot.

Now to 2017. This year is the 50th anniversary of the end of Southern steam and the Swanage Railway are planning a series of events.

The Spring steam gala 31 March to 2 April is described as "strictly Bulleid", 34070 is the only active member of the Swanage Railway fleet, so far 34046 in the guise of 34052 is proposed to attend.

Diesel Gala (and beer festival) 5 to 7 May

Aultumn steam gala 13 to 15 October

Battle of Britain Class 34053 Sir Keith Park

Battle of Britain Class 34081 92 Squadron

Battle of Britain Class 34070 Manston

Futhermore BR Standard Class 4MT No.80104 is renumbered as No.80146 for the duration of 2017 (Pulled the last steam hauled branch service on the 18th June 1967)
