Hi there,
I think I may have posted on this previously, so apologies if I'm repeating myself. My son and I are planning a visit to all the former Yugoslav territories (other than Slovenia) in July and August this year. Obviously the civil War had a disastrous effect on the railway infrastructure in these individual states. However, with the best intentions we're hoping to travel by rail as much as we can within and between Croatia/Serbia/North Macedonia/Montenegro/Kosovo/Bosnia Herzegovina. Cross border rail crossings are very few, and internal rail systems within these countries appear to be even more scarce. As reference I tend to use the European Rail timetable, and the excellent Seat 61 website, but I was wondering if anyone out there can offer advice as to how to get around these countries without using internal flights. We don't mind using coaches, but wouldn't like to be on a bus in excess of three hours if at all possible. I've not driven for nearly 25 years so car hire is out of the question. Can you offer any assistance please? Thanks.
