Former Bakerbus routes-Query

The City Bus Manager game now has a number of Scenario options including one which is set in 2014 where you have to try and turn around the fortunes of Baker Bus.

This scenario comes with a few pre set routes which are X75 Newcastle to Hanley, 94 Bidulph to Newcastle and 95 Bidulph to Hanley.

If anyone is able to answer I'd be interested to find out what happened to these routes in real life once Baker Bus stepped back from bus operation? 94 still seems to run with D&G whereas 95 and X75 no longer seem to.

If you use Discord, there is a person in the City Bus Manager server called ZuBoat. She plays as Bakerbus and I suspect she may have had a hand in the scenario - I don’t know that, it’s just a guess. Nevertheless, she may know the answers to your questions.

Not familiat with Discord tbh. I just play the game and download extra content through Steam. Thanks for the suggestion though.

On the X75, that only ran for about a year. It started in September 2012 and was dropped in August 2013 as confirmed by this from the web archive:-

By all accounts it was ran as part of a Stoke Council Local Sustainable Transport Fund project.

I don't recall there ever being a Bakers 95 to Hanley. It was the 9 (or Nines), of which the Hanley-Biddulph section of the current D&G 9 is pretty much a direct replacement, albeit then continuing towards Newcastle and Clayton as an amalgamation of various former routes operated by D&G, First and RML Travel.

AFAIK the 9 and 94 (the current D&G 94 being a significantly altered and downgraded offering compared to it's predecessor) were the main Bakers commercial routes, with pretty much everything else receiving some level of subsidy - although I'm happy to be corrected on that latter point.
