Formby to Hull day return using a a Northern free pass

Is it possible for me to do a day return from Formby to Hull with a bit of time there using a Northern free pass this Saturday or Sunday?

I also hold a Merseytravel issued ENCTS which allows travel on buses in England and all rail services in Merseyside. So can get to a Northern start finish point. E.g. Southport, Liverpool, Preston.

I also hold a disabled person's Railcard if needed.

Leeds Selby and York are RRBs

1315 into Hull; via Lime St, Man Picc, Sheffield. Coffee at Sheffield to kill time.

For future refernece, for those who need to book tickets (obviously it's not the case for a Northern free pass holder!), once you have specified the relevant operators to include or exclude, or the via/calling at/changing at points, any additional time etc, to generate the desired itinerary, the same itinerary can be purchased by using the same settings on the forum's ticketing site.

That's because it's the same journey planner behind both sites

It looks like I'm best going via Manchester and Sheffield on Saturday then.

Do we think I'd have an issues if I went out via Southport and back via Liverpool? Or am I best sticking to one. There are later return options via Liverpool but going Southport is quicker. Especially if I walk across Manchester to Piccadilly. Less of a wait.

It looks like going via Preston (by bus form Formby) and via is not viable due to the lack of direct services this weekend.
