Formby - March 16th July

Any idea for the best tickets for a single from Formby to March on the 16th July ?

Ideally not via London though ...... ( and no railcard....)

( Or the 15th if my wife can get to March before the Men's final ! )

My suggestion (for 16 July) would be a

(1) Merseytravel Saveaway on the day to Liverpool South Parkway for about £5.

(2) There are currently available advance singles on East Midlands Trains for £25 South Parkway direct to Peterborough on the 1100 or 1200. Also available for £31.80 on the 0857 or 0957.

(3) From Peterborough to March try for a £5 advance, currently available on the 1519 Greater Anglia Trains, which is a 40 minute connection with the 1100 South Parkway to Peterborough.

If you're only making one journey on Merseyrail in any given day, a single is normally cheaper. If you a coming back same day then a Merseyrail Day Ticket would normally be cheaper. No need to pay extra for a Saveaway here.

Cheekily, Merseyrail always price their Day Saver ticket at a whopping 10p less than the equivalent Saveaway. Even if I didn't need the extra validity, I'd always buy the Saveaway just to annoy Merseyrail!
